With the current global crisis of ocean levels rising, species becoming extinct and corals dying, our planet is soon to reach a point of no return. That is hugely terrifying for future generations to come and all species of wildlife that have taken centuries of evolution to evolve into what they are today.
Since the very beginning of Urban Veda, sustainability has been truly crucial in everything that we do. From creating clean, vegan formulations that draw on the powerful properties of plants, to ensuring all of our packaging can be recycled, we are wholeheartedly committed to preventing more harm being done to our natural environment.
All of our products are certified Vegan and Cruelty Free by Peta, the Leaping Bunny and the Vegetarian Society. We have never and never will use animal by products in any of our skincare formulations.
We draw on Mother Nature to create our formulations and use between 97-100% natural ingredients to cleanse, protect and nourish the skin. We are proud to say we have never used microbeads and from the beginning of our holistic skin journey have only ever used peach stone and crushed walnut shell powder in our facial exfoliators and volcanic pumice in our body scrubs as the exfoliating granules.
When choosing our charity partner, we knew immediately we wanted to help tackle the plastic pollution problem that our oceans and lands are facing. The Plastic Oceans Foundation, founded and directed by the wonderful Jo Ruxton does exactly this. We are proud to say that we donate 10% of our online sales to their cause in raising awareness around the plastic pollution problem and wholeheartedly support the important work they do – from starting by educating the younger generation in schools to the disposal of plastic, to promoting their various campaigns.
Plastic Oceans have also been instrumental in assessing our processes as well, especially our packaging. When packaging our products, sustainability is at the forefront of our minds. All of our packaging is 100% recyclable and our bottles are made from 50% PET and 50% Post Consumer Recycled plastics. Going forward with new products, we are focusing on using materials such as Aluminium and Glass to prevent more plastic entering our environment.
We have also recently partnered with the waste management and recycling service called Wastecare. We can now facilitate the recycling of our customers empty skincare products, not only from our brand but also from any other brand. Either send in your empties to our head office, or bring them along to consumer shows and pop-ups and hand them over in person for a 10% discount off your next online order.
