Autumn-Proof your Skin

As the summer is quickly fading and the nights are drawing in, it is time to take care of your skin as the season changes. The varying weather, change of temperature, overly hot baths and central heating can play havoc on your skin, leading to all sorts of skin distress. Humidity levels in the air tend to fall in the autumn and winter seasons, and the dry air has a tendency to strip skin of moisture. The result? Irritated, dry skin that’s prone to sensitivity. This transition between seasons can have a negative effect on delicate skin, so we need to take care of our biggest organ and protect it through this turbulent time! autumn leaves colours white wood

Focus on Ingredients

Take a look at the products you’re putting on your skin – do they contain ingredients that will nourish and benefit, or harmful chemicals which could irritate or damage your skin? Look for calming and de-stressing ingredients such as lavender and aloe vera, or balancing sandalwood to de-sensitive and hydrate.

Stay Hydrated

Dehydration can often show in our complexion – puffy eyes and fine lines can the result of this. As the change in weather is taking moisture from your skin. Make sure you ensure you are drinking enough water to keep it healthy from the inside out.

Invest in a Humidifier

If the dry air from central heating is really taking its toll on your skin, consider getting a humidifier to add some moisture back into the air at home. Not ready to fork out for an expensive humidifier? Try placing bowls of water by radiators instead!

Moisturise regularly

Get into the routine of moisturising your skin twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. Simply cleanse and tone, then hydrate your skin with your favourite Day Cream or Night Cream. Don’t forget to take care of your body too! Treat your skin to a new Body Lotion to keep dryness and sensitivity at bay. Looking for skincare to take care of sensitive skin this season?
